The Tewa Holiday Project has teamed up with First Mesa Elementary and Verde Valley School for a Winter Coat Drive.

For some back ground on this partnership with Verde Valley School and First Mesa Elementary:

The guiding principles of Verde Valley School fosters intercultural understanding and world citizenship, environmental stewardship, the value of physical labor, and service to humanity with a willing spirit. Verde Valley School has had a long history of being involved with Hopi and will be joining us for the delivery trip this year. A perfect fit for the Tewa Holiday Project.

Many of the Tewa elementary age children attend First Mesa Elementary School. In the spring of 2012 the Tewa Holiday Project donated 6 new laptop PCs to the school for use by the students. In a recent visit with the Principal at First Mesa, Ms. Sahmie Wytewa, I asked her what more we could do and she suggested a winter coat drive. Verde Valley School said they would champion it and voila, the Tewa Holiday Project has a Winter Coat Drive.

We hope to have the details worked out and be fully up and running with the Winter Coat Drive by the end of the first week in November. Stay tuned.
