For the fifth year in a row the Tewa Holiday Project Coats4Kids delivered 133 brand new coats and hand knitted hats to all of the students at First Mesa Elementary on the Hopi Reservation. The Coats4Kids project is spearheaded by Caroline Diehl and students from Verde Valley School. This year the Costs4Kids trees were placed at Whole Foods in West Sedona and Webers IGA in the Village of Oak Creek. On the trees in the displays were coat shaped ornaments that Sedona Community members picked up. Each ornament has the size of the coat, boy or girl and the preferred color. Then miraculously the coats are turned back into Caroline for their trip to First Mesa Elementary and their joyous pairing with their new owner. The hand knitted hats this year were provided by Barbara Miller, Wendy Jacobson, Milton Crewse all from Sedona and Bobbie Jeager from Juneau Alaska.
