On Saturday December 12 the Tewa Holiday Project made their 10th annual delivery to the Tewa Elders at First Mesa on the Hopi Mesa. 70 individuals from Sedona and points all over the US made the trip to First Mesa. We got off to a challenging start due to a winter storm that hit Northern Arizona on Saturday morning just as the 35 car caravan headed out to Hopi. In spite of the weather all of the food and clothing made it to the Tewa Community Center. Each Tewa Elder left the community center with a turkey, 10 pounds of apples, 10 pound of oranges,, 10 pound of beans, 10 pounds of potatoes, 5 pounds of carrots 2 bags and 2 boxes full of food and personal items and a blanket. All told over $12,000 worth of food and personal items were delivered to 85 Tewa Elders all paid for with donations made by generous individuals from Sedona and around the US. In addition to the food and personal items the Tewa Holiday Project  delivered  110 Coats to First Mesa Elementary as part of the 4th annual Coats4Kids program coordinated by Caroline Diehl and  over 160 wrapped presents collected by the staff from BMO Harris Bank and Dale and Rosemary Stellick from Rosedale Hair Salon.
