A big shout out to Mark and Christie Weprin for once again hosting the Tewa Holiday Project Kickoff Party. Over 30 folks were in attendance with huge amounts of food and just enough drink! Over $2,900 was raised and with other donations received we have crossed over the $5,000 mark in donations. Thanks to you all for your generous donations.

I am off this weekend to get our food orders in. Once again we are providing baskets to 85 Tewa Elders. As anyone knows who does any shopping, prices are not going down. We have raised over $5,000 but that is far short of our goal of $16,000. Thanks you all for those who have made their donations early. So for those of you that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting to make your donations, the TIME IS NOW!  According to the Tewa Community Center Director,Phyllis Wittsel, the elders are very much looking forward to our visit. I have found out over the years that you cannot just go into a grocery store, even Walmart, and pick of 85 pieces of a specific item. So I am out diligently shopping, ordering and spending money to get everything here on time.

I mentioned this the last several years. If it is at all possible please make your donations by check. When you make your donation online through PayPay, they take 2.5% to process a donation. We keep our expenses low to just 5%, the amount that Cornucopia charges for the accounting for our account, which is a great deal. Thank you Cornucopia Community Advocates for taking us under your umbrella.

The First Mesa Elementary Coats4Kids coat drive is off and running. Over 60% of the 105 coat ornaments have been picked up. If you have not done so drop by Webers IGA or Natural Grocers and pick up your ornament today!

Sustainable Sedona held their Toys for Tewa Party and it was a great success, thanks Paolo and Ryan! Once again the Sedona community’s generosity has kicked in, they already collected over 100 presents for the Tewa Community children, totally awesome! We will be staging this year’s event at a new location, so pay attention or you will be going to the wrong location. This year we will be staging at 150 State Hwy 179, Suite 2, next door to the Baskin Robbins and Red Rock Barbque. As you head down from the Y, just pull into the first strip mall on the right, you can not miss it. Thanks to Phil Evans for his gernerosity in providing this location to us.  I have updated the 2014 Schedule of Events to reflect the change in location.

I have talked to La Posada and they have told me as of this date they have 24 rooms available, IT IS NOT TOO EARLY TO CALL AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION, LAST YEAR THEY WERE FULL. Call La Posada at 928-289-4366 to reserve your room.
